Soma Edo, one of the rising stars in High-School basketball and probably the best dunker in high school has chosen to attend Fresno State University next semester. The 6’5 forward from Beckner High School in Texas had narrowed his list of schools down to Santa Clara, Fresno State, TCU and North Texas earlier in the month, and made the decision to attend Fresno State last night. Speaking to TNB on why he chose to be a bulldog, Soma said “I made the decision because the conference have developed basketball players to go to next level, they treat each other like family, and coach (Rodney) Terry loves his guys, he’s not going to fly me all the way out there not to play”.
Averaging 12.6 points and 11.3 rebounds last season, Soma is a high energy player that will offer the Fresno State program plenty of athletic ability on both ends of the court, he is extremely talented, and if he keeps working on his perimeter skills there is no telling how high his ceiling will be. Soma represented Nigeria at the 2012 Adidas Nations Global tournament, and he will be joining another player with Nigerian ethnicity at the program, 6’3 star guard Kevin Olekaibe.
