One of the rising athletes in the Maryland basketball circuit has today made a commitment to attend Samford University next season. Nnamdi Enechionyia who plays out of Saint James School in Maryland, has recently seen his stock rise after putting up stellar performances for his High School and AAU teams in the last two seasons, he also had interests from Navy, Quinnipiac, Colgate, Drexel, Mount St. Mary’s and more. Enechionyia who only took the game of basketball seriously three years ago is currently averaging about 16 points per game, he put up a career high of 41 points in a 95-66 win over Berkeley Springs in early December.
Nnamdi’s strengths lies in his ability to shoot the basketball from anywhere on the court, and his length allows him to be versatile enough to play multiple positions on the floor. On his decision to attend Samford, Nnamdi told TNB
“I chose Samford because I trust coach Seltzer and I know the program is headed in the right direction. I’m confident that I’ll be able to get better, and flourish playing in the Southern Conference. My number one priority before getting there is getting stronger and I’m just going to keep working on my overall game”.
Nnamdi has put in a lot of hard work during the off season to get his game up to D1 standards, and he continues to get better. His commitment to Samford would make him the second Nigerian recruit going to the program after Emeka Ikezu committed late last year. Nnamdi is also part of the AAU team Team Takeover and you can follow his blog right here.
